Our job is to tell your story the way you want it told. Individually tailored to meet your needs and goals, our process always includes the following:
Consultation
A free in-person consultation or phone conversation explores the unique nature of your project. We'll gather information relating to historical and cultural context; the project narrator and/or participants; audience, scope, budget and time line. Photographs, memorabilia and artifacts are also discussed.
Collection
We'll conduct one-on-one, confidential, recorded interviews with each project participant. Interviews take place in person whenever possible and are transcribed upon completion to be woven into a memoir-style narrative. Additional artifacts and photographs are collected from participants to be scanned, retouched and restored (as needed), for layout.
Creation
With the interviews completed, and photographs, memorabilia, newspaper articles and additional artifacts cataloged, we'll compose a story that is as authentic in tone and spirit, as it is accurate in its recounting of events. Then, we'll assemble the varied components to reveal a thematic direction for the story and prepare the first draft for the client to review and edit.
At this time, we'll also recommend, for the client’s consideration, a uniquely distinctive design and layout plan.
Clarification
The client may provide clarification on dates, names or facts, or may request a series of follow-up interviews to further explore an unanticipated tangent that yearns for more detail. We'll work with the client to determine the extent of follow-up necessary to produce an evocative, honorable, powerful and genuine story.
Completion
We will incorporate the client’s edits and produce a final draft. Once the client proofreads the final draft, copies of the finished product are printed and bound. There are a variety of printing and binding methods, ranging in costs. All books are printed on archival paper, utilizing inks that best guarantee color stability over time. Your book may be made to look old or may reflect current trends in publishing, or anything in between.
We'll store all digital files of your work, so that additional orders - or updates - can be fulfilled for years to come.
Length of time
The average length of time needed, from start to finish, is around 60 days. Smaller projects can be completed quicker, while larger works take considerably longer. Call us today to get a quote! 800-857-7550 |
